If you are wondering where to start in the daily declutter and clean process, start by making your bed, check out our daily, weekly and monthly cleaning checklists to get you started

  • Top Tip - We can't get enough of the daily shower sprays, you can pick them up for less than £1 and they really do help with keeping a shiny shower.

Wash the dishes - The trick is not to let them build up, if you can wash them up as you go so it is never a big job.  If this isn't possible make sure that once a day you set aside time to clear the pile,

  • Top Tip - if its last thing at night you will start every day with a clean kitchen.

Wipe down the kitchen worktops -  little crumbs can make the kitchen seem untidy when a 2 minute wipe down will make a big difference.  Pop in a load of washing - Keeping on top of the washing, 5 minutes a day is easier than being tied to the washing machine for a full day at the weekend.  Take out the rubbish - Out with the old in with the new, get in the habit of taking out the recycling each morning to give you more space in the home.  Open the post - Shred anything you don't need and file what you do need.

  • Top Tip - Have a shredder plugged in somewhere permanently so you can easily dispose of personal items and do not create a "shredding pile"  Have a paperwork system in place so any papers you are keeping are filed on receiving to piled up to deal with later.

Hang any lost clothes - Hopefully with systems in place clothes should be where they belong but I know teenagers don't always get the memo so a 5 minute clean up of those lost clothes each day will help.

  • Top Tip - Finish each day with a quick tidy up, put things back in the rooms in which they belong.  Round up the washing up and any rubbish.

Weekly Jobs

Our top tip is to break the weekly job down into days instead of a full day of cleaning, work out how much time you have maybe consider setting an alarm 30 mins earlier each day.  If possible get other household members to help out, make a list that is visible to the whole household and tick off what's been done so jobs don't get duplicated.

  • Top tip - By completing tasks throughout the week it will free up the weekends or days off for more fun things and time to spend with friends and family.

Day 1 - Daily checklist followed by a clean of the kitchen.  We find the kitchen may be the biggest job so we say tackle this on day 1, clean cupboard doors inside and out, deep clean sink, clean bread bin and toaster, clean kitchen bin, surfaces and window ledge.  Organise food cupboards and make a shopping list for the week

  • Top tip - Don't forget to give the microwave a clean, keeping this a weekly job will help your microwave live longer and not become a big job to clean.

Day 2 - Daily checklist followed by a tidy and clean of the living room,  fluff and straighten pillows, cushions, and blankets, dust the surfaces, clean out fire, hoover the sofas and floor and skirting boards.Day 3 - Daily checklist followed by a tidy of the dining room / Hallway, Dust banister, pictures and skirting boards, hoover.Day 4 - Daily checklist followed by bedrooms, strip and make beds, dust surfaces, organise any clothes that have escaped.Day 5 - Hoover the house and mop the floors ready for the weekend.Day 6 - Daily checklist Day 7 - Daily checklist
